FARMING

Sarongkot Farm

The Sarangkot farm spans over five terraces behind the main building. The farm currently produces chayote, broccoli, cauliflower, ginger, luffa, tumeric, corriander, lettuce and coffee. A hand built tented enclosure houses the homegrown vine tomatoes. We have recently planted potatoes, onions and strawberries, which should be ready in a few months time.

Toripani Farm

The farm is located a 30 minute walk away from the main NILCED site. It is home to two buffalo and Dal Bhattar and his family, who run the farm.

 

​Some of the crops grown include beans, millet, lemons, corn, potatoes and onions to name but a few.

 

On the site also lies a beautiful empty farmhouse (pictured above), which when refurbished will be a livable space for future volunteers/ employees.
