Sarangkot overlooks Pokhara, the second largest city in Nepal and lies at an altitude of 1592m. Sarangkot is a beautiful village best known for its sunrise, where on a clear day you can see an unobstructed view of the Annapurna range, Dhauligiri range, Machapuchare and the beautiful view of the Pokhara valley.

From Kathmandu to Pokhara:

The road from Kathmandu to Pokhara is a long, bumpy and winding ride along the mountains, which takes about 5 hours, so be prepared for it. Landslides, protests and other roadblocks are common, so at times you can be stuck there for hours. Bus tickets can be purchased from any travel agent in Kathmandu and should cost no more than 600-700 rupees for the non-air-conditioned tourist bus and about 1500-2000 rupees for the Greenline air-conditioned bus. 

 

From Pokhara to Sarangkot:

There is a local bus that takes you from the main bus station in Pokhara city directly to the base of the staircase leading up to the house and costs about R40 per person. Your only other option, unless you have a motorbike, is to hire a cab. Cabs will usually cost about 1,000 rupees and you must ask to be taken to the viewpoint at the very top of the hill.
