ONGOING/ CURRENT PROJECTS

Montessori-based Workshops - Arts and crafts - Music This is an ongoing program and we welcome any new ideas for workshops and volunteers who would like to run them.	Farming From planting new crops to harvesting the current ones, the two NILCED farms require continual maintenance.	Stonemasonry Although the NILCED building is almost completed, there is still stonework that needs to be finished before the monsoon season arrives in June. Due to a new road being constructed adjacent to the NILCED building, there is now no drainage system which can handle the monsoon rains. Therefore, we are currently in the process of building a wall to protect the front of the building from flooding and an irrigation system to direct the flow of water to the farm.
Carpentry With an abundance of natural bamboo growing on the NILCED farm, there are many opportunities to learn how to harvest, treat and utilise this versatile resource.	Animal Husbandry The Toripani buffalo recently gave birth to a female calf. This means there is a lot of milking to be done! We also use buffalo milk to make ghee, a healthier local made alternative to butter. Although there is already a farm manager, there an opportunity to work at Toripani with the buffalo and new calf.
